Post Party Skin & Hair Care
Party season is over and done with, which means after-work cocktails, family get-togethers and more than a few late nights celebrating the new year season. While it’s great news for your social calendar, your skin may not be quite so cheerful. Especially if you’ve been clocking in less than adequate snoozing hours, a few more glasses of chardonnay than usual and may have even gone to bed without taking off your makeup.
To detox your skin and hair and help rejuvenate it here are a few basics one must look into ...
- Stay sans make up for a bit. Go as natural as you can. Put adequate moisturiser and sunscreen.
- Drink loads of fluid. Water being the best. But coconut water, juices etc. Drink plenty of these.
- Avoid alcohol, sweets and colas for about 15 days. This is a great detox for your system, which will inturn help your skin rejuvenate.
- A simple milk and honey pack for 20 mins for 15 days will hydrate your skin beautifully and get its previous glow back.
- Omega fatty acid in form of fish, nuts and flaxseeds should be added to your diet. Or a simple supplement for 15 days will do the needful as well.
- Your body needs some rest and lots of attention to get back to normal condition. Take proper sleep to relax your body and switch over to healthy diet. Drink plenty of fluids to flush out all those toxins out of your body. Go for fruits, salads, soups and vegetables to energize your body and skin. It would help to relax your system from within and the results would appear outside.
- Lack of sleep, dehydration from alcohol intake, smoke, grime, sweat and then, sleeping with makeup can cause irreparable damage to your skin. Blocked pores mean dull dead skin with acne. Use a mild cleansing milk product to cleanse your face thoroughly, or use cleansing face wipes. Wash off remaining bits of makeup with a mild face wash and water. Acne-prone skin should be cleaned thoroughly with a benzoyl peroxide-based cleanser.
- For puffy eyes. Place cool tea bags on your eyes to soothe and reduce the puffiness. The tannins present in tea reduce swelling and even lighten dark patches. Also keep in mind to use a gentle makeup remover for the eye area and don’t rub too much.
- After exposing your hair to heat treatments and styling products, your hair needs special care .A hair mask of avocado or egg and coconut oil should be applied once a week for four weeks.
- Avoid chemical products, colouring for 21 days. Use deep conditioner for your tresses. Oiling your hair and steaming it post oil is highly recommended once a week for four weeks.
- Post party season one might get dry lips. To release the look and loosen up tough lipstick, slather on a thick coating of lip balm. Grab a tub of sugar scrub and give lips a polish to remove any lingering color along with dry skin. Finish up with a luxurious balm to leave lips supple.
- There is nothing like a gel manicure for festive, shiny nails. The down side to the long-wearing manicure is that keeping nails polished for long periods of time, plus the light used to set the gel, can dry out nails. Even regular polish can have a drying effect. To repair brittle nails, embrace the natural look and go polish-free to let nails breath for a few weeks. You should also moisturize nails and give them a mini massages to increase the blood flow to the area.
Follow these basic rules and your skin and hair will detox and rejuvenate faster than you expected. Happy skin for a happy 2017 !
