Caring for Skin this Party Season
Here are some tips to prepare your skin for the party season as although all love trying some kind of makeup, the aftermath of this may be difficult for your skin to handle! These pre and post makeup skin care tips will ensure a clear, luminous and glowing skin , complimenting your lavish dress, hairstyle and makeup, party after party......
- All acne should be treated by the dermatologist as these red, inflammed areas with pus cannot be hidden by makeup. Your doctor will prescribe oral medicines and applications, which will clear away the acne at the earliest.
- Acne marks and scars should be treated much in advance with the help of advanced techniques like chemical peels, lasers, micro needling, Platelet rich plasma (PRP) etc. This will ensure a clear and smooth canvas for your makeup.
- Eye area is the most delicate area of our face and often get neglected leading to dark circles and fine lines, which may be difficult to conceal. Use a treatment under- eye cream twice daily to plump fine lines and correct dark circles. Your dermatologist may suggest fillers and skin tightening around eye area to improve fine lines and puffiness as these definitely draw attention , when you step out of the door.
- Use an anti aging cream or serum daily at night to hydrate and even skin texture as the makeup will cake in the creases on the face and neck.
- Make sure lips are soft and supple by using a lip guard 4-5 times daily to prevent cracking and chapping of lips as this will ensure your lipstick goes on smooth.
- All makeup should be according to your skin type-oil free and water based products for oily , combination or acne prone skin and moisturising products for normal and dry skin.
- Good quality makeup is the only kind of makeup to buy. Do not compromise in quality. Most eye and lip makeup should be used within 3-6 months after opening them. If any makeup starts developing a different smell, then it should not be used as this could cause skin allergy and rashes.
- Makeup should be gently removed with a makeup remover or micellar water before going to sleep, to prevent clogging of pores.
- Have a diet rich in antioxidants and nutrients such as brightly coloured fruits and vegetables, dry fruits, green leafy vegetables and stay hydrated at all times. You may even consider taking a supplement for that extra glow before the party season.
- Try to catch 8 hours of beauty sleep as this helps regenerate the skin cells leaving skin young, fresh and revitalised.
